Introduction

Building and nurturing the environments and infrastructure that can get the best out of creative people isn’t as simple as it sounds. Collaborating with creative people sometimes gets complicated. Real people are complicated. Creative people especially can be very complicated. Directors change their minds, or start fights with producers, or go over budget or overcomplicate their projects to the point of disaster. Developing relationships with creative people can be chaotic.

 

There's a solution. It requires patience and involves working towards building trust. Working with creative people means facilitating an excellent working environment, simplifying things, being conciliatory, encouraging artistic collaboration, investing when needed and above all giving those involved the creative freedom to realize their vision.That’s why with the new YouTube Music Emerging Artist Residency we will push beyond the boundaries of norms to develop new thinking, break down barriers, and become radically different. We will merge the YouTube business to the creative process and create a foundation for Artists to build viable, ongoing success.

Introduction

YouTube Music Residency

The leading subscription and advertising-funded platforms besides YouTube are Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Prime Music, Deezer, and TIDAL, plus other variations in the form of SoundCloud and Pandora. With everyone building out their Artist Relations teams and looking to support the next up-and-coming act, how do we differentiate our program? Should we focus Internationally and support the next wave of superstars? Will we see a global hit from China or Africa? Most likely. But no matter where the Artist is from the cornerstone of working with Creatives is building trust. Build trust through unprecedented support. 

The YouTube Music Residency is a 2-week elite immersive artists accelerator hosted four times a year. Participants in the residency will have a chance to work with top industry leaders in music, fashion, and design to validate their creative projects and help them bring it to market. Accepted teams will be part of a long-term strategy and music immersion experience.

Artists will be motivated and pushed to reach new heights, challenge conventional wisdom, learn quickly and move into the exceptional.

The Curriculum

The curriculum will mix business and studio education to accelerate Artists projects strategically. Each participant will work with a team of industry veterans from the Music, Art, Design, Tech, Fashion and Business space to develop and execute the ideas that support the Artists growth. 

 

Artists will leave the YouTube Music Residency feeling more confident, excited and ready to move their creative career and musical projects to the next level. 

The Schedule 

Each day of the 2-week residency includes:

  • Lectures

  • Coaching from industry leaders

  • Meals prepared a chef

  • Recording time in world-class studios

  • Designing, exploring, and expanding 

  • Building the ultimate release

Post-Residency

Teams will be asked to pitch their newly created work and strategic vision to YouTube’s Marketing teams, press and industry influencers. After pitching, we end the Release Day party with a live performance in an intimate venue. 

 

Artists are given a key to the YouTube Spaces around the country to use whenever needed. Artists can book studio time and pitch projects to our team. We are their support system. If they have questions or business holes they need to close, we will connect them with leaders that can help guide them in the right direction.

To build new revenue streams effectively, Artists must adopt new approaches to acquiring, retaining, and rewarding fans that are predicated on applying enhanced analytics capabilities.
